As far as I can remember, I don’t think I ever took resolutions seriously. I figured that since I am the type who always sets goals for myself and more often than not achieve the, this is some what a silly practice to keep on a particular time of the year only.
I got thinking when I read this article from the local newspaper tabloid section. It gave me a different perspective on resolutions which I found fascinating.
Here are the pointers I got in cooking up my own Resolution List for 2008.
- CLEAN IT UP – so aside from doing actual clean up to our room last week which totally invigorated me… I had to do some mental, emotional and even healthy physical cleaning of my own. I cleared up my mind of the clutter it’s been full of for as long as I can remember..
- FORGIVE YOURSELF of unrealized dreams and extend the forgiveness to others. This means forgive and forget. I guess she’s right in saying “you have better use of that sour space in your mind”.
- GRATITUDE - think about “What worked? When? Where? With whom were you happy last year?”. I liked her suggestion of writing a Thank you list of all the good things that happened or was received last year.
- S.M.A.R.T. – “you can get it right if you dream with your feet on the ground.” Be realistic! Specific – Measurable – Achievable (or Agreed) – Realistic – Timed. “Break your dream into small manageable pieces and get support.”
hmmm… I love the idea. I have 1 suggestion… Post it somewhere you can always see it… so don’t forget about it!
I love her concluding line. “Maybe this year could be a special year where you’re happy with yourself and with your life – just the way it is.”
Personally, I think I will take it a notch further and keep my resolutions unposted… Para walang makakakontra! (so no one can counteract) hehehhe…
Hope by this time, you haven’t broken all your resolutions yet. Hang in there! ![]()
